L’histoire de Hamdala

Hamdala:

I came to Belgium in 2014, where my husband was living already. Together we have one daughter, Aisha, she is 5 years old.

I got into contact with Avanti through a job offer on the VDAB website. Before joining Avanti, I have been working for other cleaning companies. However, I prefer Avanti as an employer: Avanti always gives me replacements when I ask for them and they treat and pay me in a correct way. If there is a customer complaint, they will also listen to my part of the story.

I am working as a cleaning assistant because I like to clean. Also, it is a job that is easy to combine with my family. My family is important for me. I am working 28 hours, because I also follow Dutch lessons to further improve my Dutch. With my clients I speak English and Dutch from time to time.

Sometimes customers are a bit sceptical the first time that I go cleaning their house. However, when I have finished, they are always satisfied with the result, and they respect me a lot. Cleaning is not an easy job, but I like it because you have the freedom to organise your work as you want.

When I come home, I start cleaning my own house, I do the ironing and I look after my daughter. Cooking Ghanaian food is my favourite pastime as well as watching TikTok.
